Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was awarded contracts on Monday to develop harbours in two islands.
At a ceremony held at the planning ministry on Monday, the agreement for the harbour development project of HDh. Finey and M. Muli was signed by:

Finey harbour development
The harbour development project was awarded at a cost of MVR 47.26 million, to be completed in 450 days. Under the project:

Re-dredging the lagoon, which was earlier dredged in an area of 5,848.05 cubic metres

Dredging of the new harbour basin in an area of 35,484.26 cubic metres
-
Dredging the entrance to reef side by 5,848.05 metres
-
Creating an outer reef basin measuring 219.20 metres
-
Revetment in an area of 82 metres

Groyne installation in a 25-metre area

Shoreline an area of 248 metres

Construction of a ramp and harbour pavement over an area of 2,198.65 square metres
Harbour development in Muli
The harbour development project of M. Muli was awarded at a cost of MVR 65.55 million, to be completed in 550 days. Under the project:

Construction of harbour pavement in an area of 33,888 cubic metres

Installing outer reef lamps and port lights

Creating an access platform for ferry network

Construction of harbour pavement over an area of 2,370 square metres

Building an access platform for high-speed ferry network
In addition, the ministry awarded the project for the protection of R. Rasmaadhoo shore to MTCC. The project was awarded to MTCC at a cost of MVR 17.88 million and is to be completed within 210 days.
