Projects worth MVR 400m awarded to MTCC, RDC

Government on Thursday handed over projects worth MVR 400 million to government companies MTCC and RDC.
In a ceremony held at the planning ministry on Thursday, MTCC and RDC were contracted seven projects in different sectors across the country. The total cost of the projects awarded to the two companies is MVR 410.8 million.
MTCC
The company has been awarded five projects worth a total of MVR 381 million. They are:

Development of picnic island in G.Dh. Thinadhoo - MVR 57.68 million; to be completed within 300 days
-
Upgrading of Addu Feydhoo harbour – MVR 57.6 million; to be completed within 540 days
-
K. Hura harbour upgrading - MVR 67.8 million; to be completed within 540 days
-
K. Dhiffushi land reclamation and coastal protection - MVR 169.9 million; to be completed within 450 days

Upgradation of Th. Gaadhifushi harbour - MVR. 85.7 million; to be completed within 580 days.
The agreements were signed on behalf of MTCC by its CEO Adam Azim.
RDC
The government handed over two projects to the RDC. They are:

Construction of H.A. Filladhoo roads - MVR 29.8 million; to be completed within 240 days
-
Construction of roads in N. Kendhikulhudhoo - MVR 90.8 million; to be completed within 540 days.
Managing Director Moosa Ali Manik signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

When the elections are to take place on September 9, it has become an observable fact how whichever government is in power always uses state resources to initiate projects and influence elections when it draws near.
