Police have arrested a man for threatening medical staff at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after being admitted for treatment following a fight in Malé last week.
The suspect has been identified as Looth Ibrahim, 28, of Furusathu, GDh. Vaadhoo. He was arrested on a court warrant last Sunday, police confirmed.
According to a police statement, Looth was taken to IGMH for treatment after sustaining injuries in a fight early Tuesday morning. Later the same day, he allegedly threatened to kill the medical personnel attending to him.
Police also recovered a knife from his pocket at the time.
Looth was produced before court, which ordered that he be held in custody for 15 days pending further investigation.
