MP Mohamed Ibrahim moves 7 issues in single parliamentary sitting
This is the first time a member has raised such a number of issues at once, all scheduled for discussion in the same sitting.
Public criticism continues over the performance of Members of Parliament, with particular concern directed at members of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC). The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has also faced similar complaints.
Galolhu North MP Mohamed Ibrahim of the MDP, however, has drawn public attention for his active participation in parliamentary proceedings this week. Following the end of the recent recess, much of the second session’s agenda was taken up by issues raised by Mohamed Ibrahim, with seven matters listed for debate in a single sitting.
