Police have launched an investigation into the deaths of animals at the Duck Park in Hulhudhoo, Addu City.
The park, developed and maintained through contributions from the Hulhudhoo Council and local residents, was home to around eight ducks, several small fish, and a few bird species.
According to the council, all but one of the animals were found dead earlier this week. A formal complaint was lodged with the police on Friday.
Police confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.
Council officials said the deaths began two days before the complaint was filed and believe the incident may have been deliberate. They suspect that the birds and fish were killed by poisoning.
No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is ongoing.
