Maldives reinstates Fathimath Inaya as Foreign Secretary

She previously served as Foreign Secretary from 12 December 2023 until her removal in May this year.

Fathimath Inaya has been reappointed as Foreign Secretary after the position remained vacant for six months.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Atoll Times on Monday that Inaya was reinstated to the post on Tuesday. She previously served as Foreign Secretary from 12 December 2023 until her removal in May this year.

Prior to her reappointment, Inaya served as Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Inaya was the first woman to hold the position of Foreign Secretary in the Maldives. A career diplomat, she is a graduate of the Foreign Service with extensive experience in foreign affairs.

The post of Foreign Secretary is the second-highest position in the ministry after the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Under the Foreign Service Act, the term of office for the Foreign Secretary is three years.
