High Court judge Faisal resigns amid JSC probe

In addition to Faisal, the government-controlled JSC is investigating four other judges of the High Court.

High Court Judge Mohamed Faisal resigned on Sunday, the court confirmed. No reason has been disclosed for his resignation.

Faisal, who recently stepped down as Chief Justice of the High Court, resigned while the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is investigating a behavioural case involving him.

In addition to Faisal, the government-controlled JSC is investigating four other judges of the High Court.

Among them is Justice Mohamed Niyaz, who recently resigned as Vice-President of the JSC. Niyaz, the longest-serving judge on the High Court bench, has filed for retirement.

The remaining judges under investigation are:

  • Justice Fathimath Farheeza

  • Justice Hussain Mazeed

  • Justice Deebanaz Fahmy

The JSC has not released details of the cases involving the judges.
