RCC has received the contract to construct the Waqf Building in Hulhumalé at a cost of MVR 244.5 million.

The foundation stone was laid at a ceremony held in Hulhumalé Wednesday.

This is the second endowment building to be developed in Maldives. The building, named Dharul Salam, will cover an area of 20,000 square feet and will consist of 12 floors.

The project is scheduled to be completed within two years.

The government has also decided to establish similar endowment buildings in other populated areas. Income from these buildings will be used to support programmes carried out across the country to strengthen Islamic initiatives.
