Applications have been opened for those interested in constructing a 12-storey Waqf building in Hulhumale.
The Islamic Ministry announced on Thursday that it wants to build a 12-storey office building called Dar Al-Salaam in the first phase of Hulhumale.
The Ministry has asked Maldivian and foreign companies interested in doing the work on contractor finance basis to register with the ministry before the 26th of this month.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed had earlier stated that the building is a project worth MVR 205 million to implement the policy of increasing the income generated in the Maldives to increase the expenditure on religious facilities. The minister had said at the time that the building was being built on 20,000 square feet of land.
The Cabinet has also recently decided to allocate more land in the city for the Waqf buildings.
