A man arrested from B. Thulhadhoo for allegedly blackmailing a person with the threat of pornographic materials and trying to extort money was remanded to five days on Monday.
According to the police, the case was reported on Friday. A 31-year-old local man was arrested on Sunday under a court order in connection with the case, the police added.
A police spokesperson said Thulhadhoo magistrate court ordered the man to be remanded to five days.
According to a person who spoke to Atoll Times from the island, the accused had faced similar allegations from different people in the island in the past.
