A police officer has been arrested in connection with an altercation at a checkpoint, police confirmed.
Mohamed Maumoon, 22, a resident of M. Kolhufushi, was taken into custody following the incident. According to a remand order issued by the Criminal Court, Maumoon is accused of stopping a police vehicle at a checkpoint, obstructing police duty and engaging in a physical altercation.
The court order noted that Maumoon is a serving police officer and highlighted the responsibility associated with his role in law enforcement. He was produced before the Criminal Court and remanded in custody.
Police also confirmed that the officer was arrested on Sunday in connection with a fight that took place inside a salon. Following the arrest, he has been suspended from duty pending further action.
