The Ministry of Economic Development said on Tuesday that 37 illegal businesses have been closed following inspections carried out over the past two weeks.
The ministry released inspection data covering the period from 29 November to Monday, detailing complaints received, inspections conducted and enforcement actions taken against businesses operating without approval or in violation of regulations.
According to the figures, the ministry received 252 complaints related to illegal business activities during the period. Inspections were conducted at 98 business premises.
Of those inspected, 25 businesses were closed for violations of laws administered by the Ministry of Economic Development. A further 12 businesses were closed for breaching other applicable laws.
The ministry also confirmed that eight businesses were permitted to reopen after addressing issues identified during inspections.
