Police seek public help to identify suspect in counterfeit dollar case

Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man suspected of using counterfeit US dollars.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Maldives Police Service released a video requesting information about the individual shown in the footage. The video shows a man wearing an orange T-shirt at a takeaway outlet at a hotel in Malé, where he is seen paying cash for a bottle of water and other items.

Police said the suspect is wanted in connection with an investigation into the circulation of counterfeit currency. The case is being handled by the Economic Crime Investigation Department.

Members of the public with information related to the suspect have been asked to contact the authorities.
