CSC allows employees to apply directly for special medical leave

Employees seeking special medical leave under the Civil Service rules may submit their requests directly to the CSC, while copying their employer.

Government employees may now apply directly to the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for special medical leave, under revised administrative arrangements.

The CSC said in an announcement on Wednesday that the change follows delays experienced under the previous process, where government agencies were required to submit applications on behalf of employees through the relevant supervising office.

Under the revised procedure, employees seeking special medical leave under the Civil Service rules may submit their requests directly to the CSC, while copying their employer.

According to the CSC, applications must be submitted with the required supporting documents at least 15 days before the intended start date of the leave. The commission said the change is intended to streamline the process and reduce delays in decision-making.
