The owner of the property where the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) opened its new headquarters has paid a fine imposed for carrying out construction without the required permits.

The owner of H. Veyovila was fined more than MVR 128,000 on the 25th of last month. The Malé City Council also ordered that the fine be settled within seven days.

Mayor Adam Azim said on Monday that following payment of the fine, revised construction drawings have now been submitted to the council.

The building, located in the Artificial Beach area of Malé, was previously used by the Maldivian Democratic Party and later by The Democrats.

The premises have since been renovated and are now being used as a five-storey office and meeting hall for the PNC.
