Over 1,500 students transfer to Male’ schools

Data from the ministry show that the number of students moving from island schools to schools in the Male’ area has increased over recent years.

More than 1,500 students transferred from schools in different islands to schools in the capital region this year, the Ministry of Education said Wednesday.

The deadline for students to transfer from island schools to schools in Male expired on Monday. According to the ministry, a total of 1,530 students applied for admission to schools in Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’.

Of the total number of applications received, 694 students applied for admission to schools in Male’. A further 753 students applied to schools in Hulhumale’, while 83 students applied for placement in schools in Villimale’.

The ministry also reported that 1,748 students applied for admission to Grade 1 in Male’ this year. In comparison, 3,042 students applied for Grade 1 admission in schools located in the atolls. In addition, 836 students applied to transfer from schools in Male’ to schools in Hulhumale’.

Data from the ministry show that the number of students moving from island schools to schools in the Male’ area has increased over recent years. In the previous year, 1,500 students transferred from provincial schools to schools in Male’.
