The second batch of participants selected for the Initial Training of the Maldives National Service departed on Saturday to begin their training programme.
A total of 350 students are included in the second batch, comprising 286 males and 64 females from 112 islands across the country.
The participants will undergo three months of training at the Maldives National Defence Force Composite Training Centre in Lh. Maafilafushi.
The Maldives National Service is a programme introduced by President Mohamed Muizzu to provide structured training for young people.
According to the organisers, the objectives of the programme include promoting national awareness, encouraging respect for religious values, preparing participants to respond to emergencies and disasters, and developing skills related to teamwork and civic responsibility.
The programme also aims to provide basic training in leadership, community service and emergency response.
Participants who complete the initial training will receive a certificate of completion and additional certification, including Certificate Level 3 in Civil Education and Leadership, Community Volunteer Fire Fighter, and Basic First Aid. They will also receive a certificate for completing the Education Training Programme.
