President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday arrived in Laamu atoll to attend the 'Viavathi Raajje' symposium for local councillors.
Upon his arrival to inaugurate the Viavethi Raajje symposium that will be held in L. Gan island, the president was warmly welcomed with traditional activities at Kadhdhoo Airport.
Gan MP Mohamed Wisam and Gan Council President Ahmed Zaki greeted the president as he disembarked the aircraft.
As the president left the airport, a large number of residents had gathered in Kadhdhoo to greet him.
An ice breaking session will be held Saturday evening, with the president set to attend the dinner session.
The symposium will officially begin on Sunday. Two days prior to its inauguration, the attending councillors had participated in an event named ‘Fanoallla Dharubaaru’. Organised by the Local Government Authority (LGA), the forum provides a platform for attending councillors and members of the Women's Development Committee (WDC) to brainstorm the issues that they intend to present at the 'Viavathi Raajje' symposium.
The upcoming edition of the Viavathi Raajje symposium is dedicated for:
-
Councillors and WDC from the four southernmost atolls, from Dhaalu to Addu atoll.
-
Around 100 representatives from the atolls are participating.
-
Attending councillors have a lot of hopes tied up with this forum where a total of 300 representatives are taking part.
