Askoi ordered to pay MVR 185,250 over failed Umrah trip

The Civil Court has ordered Askoi Travel Service to pay MVR 185,250 after a group was not taken to perform Umrah despite payment.
The case was filed in November last year after six members of a family from Thinadhoo were not taken to Umrah after paying MVR 155,250 to Askoi Travel.
In the lawsuit filed against Askoi Travel Service and its owner, Abdulla Rasheed, the plaintiffs sought a refund of the MVR 155,250 paid for the Umrah trip and an additional MVR 30,000 as court costs, totalling MVR 185,250.
In its ruling on Thursday, the Civil Court ordered Askoi Travel Service and Abdulla Rasheed to pay the amount within seven days.
