Youth military training programme to begin new intake in May
According to the ministry, applications will remain open until 2:00 p.m. on the 5th of next month.

The Ministry of Defence (Maldives) has opened applications for the third batch of the Maldives National Service.
According to the ministry, applications will remain open until 2:00 p.m. on the 5th of next month.
The training programme will be conducted over a period of three months at the MNDF Composite Training Centre in Lh. Maafilafushi.
Applicants under the age of 18 are required to submit a letter of consent from a legal guardian to participate in the programme.
The second batch of training is scheduled to run from late January to April. The third batch, for which applications opened on Monday, is scheduled to begin in the last week of May.
The Maldives National Service programme was introduced by President Mohamed Muizzu as part of a government initiative aimed at youth training.
According to the programme outline, the objectives include:

Encouraging a sense of national identity among youth

Promoting understanding of Islam

Preparing participants to respond to national emergencies and disasters

Encouraging cooperation and discipline among participants

Developing skills for participation in community and national activities
Participants who complete the training will receive certificates including Certificate Level 3 in Civil Education and Leadership, Community Volunteer Firefighter training, and Basic First Aid. They will also receive a certificate confirming completion of the education and training programme.
