Ex-deputy police commissioner Abdul Shakoor dies
Abdul Shakoor served in the Maldives National Defence Force and the Maldives Police Service for a combined period of 43 years.

Former Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Shakoor Abdullah has passed away on Tuesday.
Abdul Shakoor served in the Maldives National Defence Force and the Maldives Police Service for a combined period of 43 years.
During his service, he was part of the force involved in responding to the attack on November 3, 1988. He also contributed to efforts related to prison administration and measures addressing drug-related issues.
He played a role in the development of the police service following its separation from the armed forces.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed condolences following his passing.
“Abdul Shakoor was a man who placed the country first throughout his life,” the President said in a post.
“At this time of grief, I extend my condolences to his family, the Maldives National Defence Force and the Maldives Police Service. I pray that Allah grants him Paradise,” he added.
