Supreme Court to hear MP Sinan seat case on Sunday
The case was filed in the Supreme Court on 13 February last year.
The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing of a petition concerning Hithadhoo North Member of Parliament Mohamed Sinan over failure to settle debts in line with a judgment of the Hithadhoo Magistrate’s Court.
The court had ordered payment of MVR 2.5 million outstanding from a loan of MVR 3.8 million obtained from the Maldives Islamic Bank. The order required payment of at least the due amount each month within six months.
The case was filed in the Supreme Court on 13 February last year. Sinan settled the debt on the same day.
Hearings in the case concluded in July last year. Nine months have passed since the conclusion of hearings.
The Supreme Court has issued a summons to Ghalib Saleem to appear for the verdict hearing on Sunday at 12:45 p.m. Sentencing proceedings are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
The case is being heard by a bench of five judges: Aisha Shujoon (Chairperson), Abdullah Hameed, Dr Mohamed Ibrahim, Ali Rasheed Ahmed, and Hussain Shaheed.
