4 arrested over MVR 4 million theft in Malé apartment

The Maldives Police Service has arrested four individuals in connection with the theft of MVR 4 million from an apartment in Malé.

The incident was reported on the 16th of last month and is alleged to have taken place at Nalahiya Residence on Majeedhee Magu. Police disclosed details of the case to the media on Sunday.

According to police, a total of MVR 4 million was taken, of which MVR 50,000 has been recovered.

Police stated that five individuals are suspected in the case. Four have been arrested and remain in custody, while efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspect.

The individuals in custody have been identified as:

  • Mohamed Noor Ahmed (40), Kasthoorimaage / Lh. Naifaru

  • Mohamed Afrah (40), Moonlightvilla / S. Meedhoo

  • Ismail Asif (36), Daarul Avval / R. Maduvvari

  • Ahmed Faris (39), M. Asia

Police stated that the investigation is nearing completion and that the case will be forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office Maldives for charges.
