Housing scheme expanded to include some recent Malé registrants
The ministry said applicants under the revised category must still meet the requirement of having lived continuously in Malé for at least 15 years.
Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has amended eligibility rules under the government’s “Bohiyavehikun Enmenah” housing programme, allowing some residents registered in Malé for less than one year to apply for land and flats.
The ministry said applicants under the revised category must still meet the requirement of having lived continuously in Malé for at least 15 years.
Those applying will be required to submit documents proving 15 years of continuous residence, along with records showing the date of official registration in the city.
Applications under the housing scheme close at the end of this month.
The ministry has made several revisions to the programme since applications were first opened, including the creation of additional eligibility categories.
Under the current plan, 15,000 land plots are to be allocated across the Greater Malé region and Rasmalé.
A further 7,900 flats are scheduled for allocation within the Greater Malé area.
The land scheme provides for 15,000 plots measuring 1,250 square feet each.
According to the ministry, this includes 10,000 plots and 4,000 flats designated for Malé residents.
