Govt proposes Thoriq as UAE envoy, Adam Shareef to Qatar
Thoriq and Adam Shareef were among several cabinet ministers who resigned last month.
The government has proposed the appointment of former Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and former Local Government Minister Adam Shareef Umar as Ambassador to Qatar.
The nominations were submitted to the People’s Majlis and presented during Thursday’s parliamentary sitting through a letter sent by President Mohamed Muizzu.
The matter has been referred to the Foreign Relations Committee for review.
Thoriq and Adam Shareef were among several cabinet ministers who resigned last month following a directive issued by President Muizzu after the local council elections and referendum results.
Following their resignation from the cabinet, both were appointed as Ambassadors-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
