Hulhumalé Lakudi Jetty closed after collision with cargo barge

Access to the Hulhumalé Lakudi Jetty has been suspended following structural damage caused by a collision involving a cargo barge.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Housing Development Corporation said the incident occurred while the barge was attempting to dock at the jetty.
According to HDC, the impact caused structural damage that has rendered the jetty unsafe for public use.
The corporation stated that access to the jetty has been closed from Tuesday until repair works and safety assessments are completed.
HDC noted that the area will remain off-limits until the structural integrity of the jetty is restored and safety clearance is granted.
Located next to the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal, the Lakudi Jetty is regularly used by resort speedboats and transfer vessels operating in the Greater Malé region.
