President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has ordered the Maldivian national flag to be flown at half-mast following the death of former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
According to the President's Office, the flag will be flown at half-mast from 12:00 p.m. on Monday until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The President's Office said the decision was made in recognition of the longstanding relations between the Maldives and Qatar and to honour Sheikh Hamad's contribution to the relationship between the two countries.
The statement noted that Sheikh Hamad maintained close ties with the Maldives during his time as Emir and supported the country's development.
