Elderly man found dead in Eydhafushi harbour

An 82-year-old man was found dead in the sea near the harbour area of B. Eydhafushi on Tuesday.
The Maldives Police Service identified the deceased as Ali Abdulla of Seasonge, B. Eydhafushi.
According to Eydhafushi Times, the body was discovered by a group of people who had gone to secure a speedboat to a mooring line inside the harbour.
The newspaper quoted Eydhafushi Island Council Vice President Ali Shafeeq as saying that Ali is believed to have fallen into the sea late on Monday night.
Shafeeq said police are reviewing footage from CCTV cameras in the area to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police confirmed that an investigation is underway.
