Section of Ameenee Magu to close From midnight for road repairs
According to the police, the first segment of the project covers the stretch between Dharumavantha Park and Izzudheen Magu.
A section of Ameenee Magu undergoing repair work will be closed to traffic from midnight on Monday, the Maldives Police Service has announced.
The closure applies to the first phase of the road repair project, which is being carried out by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
According to the police, the first segment of the project covers the stretch between Dharumavantha Park and Izzudheen Magu.
Police said traffic in the area will be diverted from 12:00 am in accordance with the approved traffic management plan, and the affected section will be closed to the public.
Motorists have also been advised to remove any vehicles parked within the work zone before midnight.
Ameenee Magu was resurfaced with asphalt during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The project, implemented in several phases, was completed in early 2024 following the change of government.
Less than two years after the work was completed, parts of the resurfaced road have deteriorated. The section at the Maafannu end, between the Voice of Maldives (Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu) building and Dharumavantha Park, has sustained the most damage.
The repair project is intended to restore the affected section of the road.
