Two people were injured in a road accident in Hulhumalé Phase 2 on Monday morning, days after a separate crash in the area left a nine-year-old girl in critical condition.
Police said Monday's accident involved a car and a motorcycle at the four-way intersection connecting Heenaama Hingun and Dhumburigas Magu.
The accident was reported to police at around 7.44am.
According to police, the motorcycle was being driven by a 62-year-old Maldivian man, with a 24-year-old Maldivian man travelling as a passenger.
Both men sustained injuries in the collision and were taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment. Police did not provide further details about the extent of their injuries.
The circumstances leading to the collision have not been disclosed. Police said the case is under investigation.
Monday's accident follows another road accident in Hulhumalé Phase 2 on Saturday night, in which a nine-year-old girl sustained injuries.
In that incident, a motorcycle travelling along Hithigas Magu struck a person near a parked car in the Vinares Tower 7 area. The child, who was travelling as a passenger on the motorcycle, was thrown from the vehicle and was reportedly struck by another car approaching from behind.
She was initially treated at Hulhumalé Hospital before being transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Malé.
The child remains in the Intensive Care Unit at IGMH and is receiving treatment on a ventilator.
