Foundation for co-living housing has been laid in Hulhumale to provide affordable housing to students living in the Greater Male Area and to those who single-handedly has to pay a huge rent.
According to a press release issued by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Thursday:

The project has been awarded to Hong Kong-based Rotime Engineering and Technology

The cost of the project has not been disclosed

The 15-storey building will have twin-sharing rooms from the second floor to the ninth floor; the rest of the floors will have single rooms

Rooms in the building will be rented out only to locals
The building will have common facilities:

There will be a kitchen on each floor

Outdoor gyms and pantry services will be available

There will be laundry and shop for essential and basic purposes
According to a study conducted by HDC, residents in the Greater Male Region usually pay MVR 5,000 per month as rent on their own while they are studying.
