Work of state media PSM's board of directors has come to a standstill as all but only one member have completed their term, with the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) set to take a decision on the names sent by the President's Office this week.
The four-year term of some of the then PSM members, including the then managing director Ali Khalid, ended at the end of last month. Since then, the president's office has sent the names, but the PCB is yet to approve them, which has stalled its functioning.
PCB president Asim Mohamed told Atoll Times on Saturday that as per the law, PCB meetings have to be held twice a month, while some PCB members went on leave after holding two meetings last month.
He, however, added that a decision on the three names, which were later sent to the PSM board, will be taken soon.
"Before some of our members go on leave, the two names we received two weeks ago should have been approved and sent to the President's Office. A decision on the three names sent last week will be taken this week," Asim said, pointing out that there was no delay in finalising the names as the names sent later were sent only last week.
Currently, only Abdulla Rasheed is on the board of PSM. Ali Khalid's tenure has come to an end and the company's procurement director, Mohamed Saeed, has been given temporary charge of the company.

PSM's board work has come to a standstill and president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who is contesting in MDP’s primary, has been criticised for campaigning too much as matters stood.
