Local Government Authority (LGA), the guardian body of local councils, announced the results of 2021 in the 'Performance Index' of local councils on Monday. These are status accorded by the LGA since 2015.

The results were announced at a special function held at LGA by the authority's CEO Afshan Latheef.

Speaking at the event, Afshan said that the purpose of introducing the index is to ensure that the councils are accountable and perform their duties responsibly.

One of the tasks that the LGA is doing now is to bring about the same changes in the performance index along with the changes in the mandate of the councils, she said.
