Adhaalath Party has said that discussions are going on in a "positive" manner regarding supporting MDP candidate, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in this year's presidential election.
Discussions between the two parties began on Tuesday with president Solih's invitation to Adhaalath to support MDP.
Adhaalath Party spokesperson Ali Nazeer said Tuesday’s talks were held in a "positive" atmosphere.
"We have presented the concerns of the last presidential term and the solutions we see to them, and what the Adhaalath Party wants when we work together in the future," Ali Nazeer said, referring to the discussions at the meeting.
However, he was reluctant to elaborate on what transpired as the talks were on at the moment and some issues were yet to be finalised. Ali Nazeer said he hoped the two parties would soon reach an agreement on the issue.
The Adhaalath Party is already part of the ruling coalition. President Solih, who has been given the party ticket to seek a second term in office, has repeatedly said that MDP can only win the next presidential election by forming alliances with other parties.
