A man was arrested Saturday night in connection with the stabbing of a man inside a shop in the city on Friday night, police said Sunday.
Police commissioner Mohamed Hameed said in a tweet Sunday morning that one person had been arrested for being actively involved in the attack on a man with a sharp-edged weapon inside a shop in Maafannu on Friday night.
A 30-year-old local man was injured in the attack and is on ventilator support at IGMH.
The injured man fell to the floor inside the shop and there was no movement and there were pictures of him bleeding profusely going around in social media. In a video accessed by Atoll Times, a group of civilians can be seen rushing to help the man. A foreigner removes the t-shirt of a person present at the spot and wraps it around the injured person.
The attack took place inside 'Krasa' on Muranga roaga. It is a cosmetics shop.
Two eyewitnesses told Atoll Times that the attack took place when two men, wearing helmets, entered the shop.
