Dhiraagu on Friday opened pre-ordering for Apple's latest phone, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, and the high demand that ensued has caused the website to crash.

Dhiraagu announced Thursday evening that it will open pre-orders for the phones from 2pm Friday.

As soon pre-orders opened Friday afternoon, the website crashed.

"It must have been about five minutes after we started taking pre-orders when the website crashed," said an official from Dhiraagu.

The website has since been restored.

Pre-orders for iPhone 14 from Dhiraagu:

  • iPhone 14 Pro - 128GB for MVR 23,899.

  • For six months, 5 GB data free

  • Sold on a 12-months instalment basis as well; a monthly instalment of MVR 1,799, with an advance of MVR 4,999 in the first month.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is more expensive.

  • iPhone 14 Pro Max - 128GB for MVR 26,299.

  • MVR 2,019 per month in 12-month instalments; in the first month, MVR 4,999 is required as advance.

Ooredoo has also opened pre-orders for the new iPhone.

Apple launched the iPhone 14 on 7 July. This upgraded model can be connected to emergency satellites and can detect car crash situations with its new dual-core accelerometer.

The biggest differences between the four iPhone 14 models are their cameras and the 'Dynamic Island' included in the two Pro models.
