Islamic ministry on Tuesday announced that the Muslim holy month of Ramadan will begin on Thursday.
The ministry made the announcement at a crescent sighting and confirmation held at the islamic centre Tuesday evening.

Islamic Minister Dr Ahmed Zahir said that neither the Maldives nor any other Islamic country has received any official confirmation of the sighting of the moon.
