2 Japanese naval vessels arrive in Maldives

Two Japanese naval ships arrived in the Maldives on Wednesday.
The JS Awaji and JS Uraga of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force arrived in the Maldives on Wednesday.
MNDF said in a statement:

The two ships will stay in the Maldives for three days

This is a friendly visit for the two countries to boost military ties

During the visit, meetings will be held with MNDF leaders
The two vessels were received at the Male Harbour on Wednesday. Principal Director of MNDF Coast Guard, Lt Col. Mohammad Rizmi Waleed visited the two vessels and interacted with senior officials of the vessels.
Japan has long been an important donor to the Maldives in many sectors of development. Japan is among those countries that had contributed a lot to the Maldives during Covid-19.
