Tenants who merged two apartments of a Hiyaa tower developed in Hulhumale Phase II and changed the structure of the building have been fined MVR 200,000.
Urbanco spokesman Ahmed Mimrah said on Friday that it came to the company's notice two days ago that the structure of the apartment had been changed and the two apartments had been merged.
Mimrah said that after it came to Urbanco's notice, immediate action was taken. The steps taken are as follows:
-
Imposed a fine of MVR 100,000 per apartment
-
Directed to pay the fine amount within five days
"The legal team here will look into the action to be taken if they fail to pay within that period," Mimrah said.
The Hiyaa flats were handed over in such a way that the recipients completed the interior finishing works on their own. Initially, the people who moved first to the site and changed the internal structure were also fined.
According to Urbanco's work policy issued at the time, it was strictly prohibited to separate or connect any room after demolishing a wall.
