President Mohamed Muizzu has waived the penalties imposed on social housing flats for non-payment of rent.
Urbanco announced on Sunday the changes coming with the new year:
-
Penalties for non-payment of rent of social housing flats to date will be waived
-
Under the penalty relief, the outstanding amount will be paid in installments
In addition, the opportunity to convert the non-payment penalty into a 'fixed penalty' will be given to those who wish. Thus:
-
Set the late payment penalty at 1% of the monthly payment amount
-
With this change, the penalty will not increase day by day and both parties will know the amount of the penalty, Urbanco said
-
With this change, the 1% of the penalty will be deducted according to Islamic principles
Under the new rules, only those who apply to participate in the fixed penalty can be converted to a fine. Application forms should be submitted:
-
Before January 10th
-
Applications should be submitted to the Urbanco office or by email to [email protected] or [email protected]
-
Urbanco said it would sign a new agreement with such bidders
According to Urbanco, the relief measures will not include commercial flats and affordable housing units such as Vinares.
Muizzu had promised during the campaign that he would waive the fine if he came to power, saying it would not be fair to pay the rent by increasing the rent of flats built under government social housing.
