Colonel Abdulla Ibrahim, who was removed from his duties following the security failure involving President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's motorcade, has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
Several senior military personnel of the president's security unit, including the president's security chief Abdulla, were removed from their duties in March after the president's motorcade entered an opposition protest in front of the PPM office.
After all the action had been taken, MNDF confirmed that Abdulla had been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. They, however, did not elaborate.
The rank of Brigadier General is the fourth highest in MNDF.
After the motorcade entered the protest, MNDF issued a statement at the time saying that a special committee had been formed to look into the matter. At the time, it was said that Major Ibrahim Haleem had been temporarily given charge of the president's security.
Since then, there has been no word on whether the decision has been changed.
The president's security breach was also investigated by the parliament's 241 committee.
