An Indian man has been arrested in Male for assaulting his wife in front of his step children.
The accused, identified as Hussain Sayad Abrar Hussain, allegedly caused his wife severe injuries.
Sayad, 53, was arrested and produced before the Criminal Court on Friday, which remanded him in police custody for 15 days.
The allegations levelled by the police against Sayad in court are as follows:

The court's reman order says:

Sayad had severely assaulted his wife

The scene was witnessed by the woman’s two children
"In view of his relationship with the victim and those who saw the scene, there is also a sense [of opportunity] to influence them," the order issued by Judge Ali Nadeem read.
The police also submitted the statement of the victim and photographs of the victim before the detention court.
The statements and photographs prove that Sayad had tortured his woman, the court order said.
