Villingili MP Saud Hussain has been injured in a road accident on the highway of Sinamale Bridge on Tuesday.
Environment ministry Director Shahrab Abdulla, who spoke to Saud's family, said Saud met with an accident on the way to parliament Tuesday morning.
While he was on the highway from Hulhumale, a pickup in front of him suddenly came to a halt and Saud was unable to hit the brakes, colliding into the pickup, he said.
In the accident, he suffered severe cuts on his shoulder and knees, tearing the flesh. His wrist was also injured.
"We are now operating to stitch the muscle tears. His condition is stable," Shahrab said.
He added that Saud did not sustain any head injuries as he was wearing a helmet, and that he did not have a concussion.
