
Over a million on fire relief this year, NDMA says

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has spent MVR 1.1 million on relief aid following fire incidents this year.
The agency reported that assistance was provided to eight houses in eight islands for fire damage;

According to the NDMA, 17 people were provided with temporary shelter, clothing and cooking facilities.
The number of fires reported to the NDMA has increased over the past five years:

31 incidents till June 2023
The NDMA said the number of fire incidents reported in the islands is now increasing.
