
Amin gets MVR 168 million contract for new Arabiyya, Jamaluddin buildings
Arabiyya students are currently studying at an MTCC building adjacent to the Hulhumale ferry terminal in Male which temporarily hosted the foreign ministry.

Government on Thursday awarded a contract worth MVR 168 million to Amin Construction for the construction of a new building for Arabiyya School and an annex to the existing building of Jamaluddin School.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the education ministry Thursday afternoon by:

Amid protests over the temporary arrangements made for students of Arabiyya School after they had to be vacated from their dedicated building due to structural issues in the building, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had pledged to build a permanent building for Arabiyya at the old Jamaluddin School building premises.

New Arabiyya building
The design and build contract was awarded to Amin to construct:

40 classrooms

a multi-purpose hall

four lifts
-
employee parking area
Education ministry said:

Construction is expected to finish in December 2023, with the building set to open in early 2024

Demolition of the old Jamaluddin building to be completed next month

Upon completion of the new building, Arabiyya will also be a single-session school
Annex building of Jamaluddin
In addition to the new Arabiyya building, education ministry also tasked Amin with the construction of annex building at Jamaluddin School. The annex building will have:

Two lifts
-
Parking area
Once the building is completed, Jamaluddin will also begin single session classes.
Amin was awarded the project for MVR 168 million to be completed within 420 days.
