President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said on Sunday that fulfilled pledges have brought political stability and happiness to the country and maintaining the happiness rests on how the people vote in the upcoming presidential election.

The president made the remarks while addressing fellow MDP supporters in Sh. Maroshi, on his visit to Shaviyani atoll to begin his re-election campaign.

The president said that many projects such as housing and sports infrastructure are being implemented in different parts of the country.

When voting in the September 9 election, the president asked the people to compare what previous governments have done with what the MDP government has done and is doing in these five years.

Referring to the development works being carried out in Maroshi during the five years of his government, the president said that Maroshi is a small island that had been neglected by previous governments. The island was "restored to the map of Maldives" by his government, he said.
