Bad weather; rough seas for next 5 days

MET advised to exercise caution when travelling by sea.

Seas are expected to be rough for the next five days, according to the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET).

Heavy rain has been experienced across the country since last week, but it has not had much impact yet.

In a tweet, MET said that seas are expected to be rough for the next five days. The service said that the north and central atolls will be the hardest hit.

MET advised to exercise caution when travelling by sea. 

  • MET issued a yellow alter from Haa Alifu Atoll to Faafu Atoll from 12am to 6am

  • A white alert will remain in place until 12pm Saturday 

  • Winds are expected to gust 22-27 miles per hour and 45 miles per hour during showers
