Five Sri Lankan boats, which were illegally fishing in the Maldives' economic zone, have been brought to Male and handed over to the police on Wednesday.
The boats were seized as part of an operation conducted by the MNDF Coast Guard Second Squadron following a report by local fishing vessel Asuruma 3.
According to MNDF:

Four of these boats were sighted on Monday while the MNDF Coast Guard patrol craft 'Nooradeen' was patrolling about 85 miles east of K. Kaashidhoo

The fifth boat was seized by the Coast Guard on Monday evening by the MNDF Coast Guard Ship 'Ghaazee' while patrolling about 74 nautical miles east of Lh. atoll
"At present, these boats have been brought to Male on September 20 under the supervision of the Coast Guard and sent to Dhoonidhoo port and handed over to the police," the statement said.
