President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday decided to allocate 300 flats for tourism employees under the government's social housing scheme.
State housing minister Akram Kamaluddin told Atoll Times that the president decided to allocate 300 flats under the Gedhoruveriya social housing scheme for employees who have been working in the tourism sector for 15 years. The 300 flats are out of the 6,000 opened for application on Sunday under the second phase of Gedhoruveriya scheme, he said.
“We will gazette the regulation tonight,” Akram said.
The resort workers union, Tourism Employees Association of Maldives (TEAM), has been calling for the allocation of flats under the social housing scheme for tourism workers.
