President concedes defeat; congratulates Muizz
The President thanked the people for the beautiful example of democracy they showed during the elections.

Losing MDP candidate, incumbent President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih conceded defeat in the presidential runoff on Saturday, and congratulated opposition PPM-PNC candidate Dr Mohamed Muizz for his victory.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih came second with 86,161 votes or 39.05% of the vote in the first round held on September 9, and Muizz came first with 101,635 votes or 46.06% of the vote. According to the provisional results of the Atoll Times vote observations, the second round held on Saturday show:

President Solih received 108,432 votes; that's 46.2% of the total valid votes cast

Muizz received 126,252 votes; that's 53.8% of the vote
In an 'X' post, President Solih congratulated Muizz on winning the election.
The president thanked the people for the beautiful example of democracy they showed during the elections. The president thanked the members of the Adhaalath Party, as well as his own MDP, who worked with him in the election and all the people who voted for him in the election.
While President Solih congratulated Muizz after accepting the results of the election, Muizz had urged President Solih to transfer the jailed opposition leader, former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, to house arrest, at a press conference held by the opposition coalition on Saturday evening.
